Our Philosophy:
“why organic?”… and the importance of zero waste

Organic is central to our business, and we pride ourselves on what we see as the finest range of Soil Association-certified breads and pastries in London. Organic farming is about much more than just “chemical-free”; it is (and has long been) the Gold Standard of sustainable, regenerative agriculture. we are working with both our farmers and the mill to find better ways to communicate the importance of organically-grown wheats to the wider agricultural landscape. Our fields and our harvests are precious natural resource; in making organic breads and pastries we can be one tiny part of an important movement to protect the earth’s most important resources for future generations

Caring for the environment and creating a sustainable existence are integral, driving forces behind how we run our business. The provenance of our ingredients matters to us, and we have forged relationships over the years with a number of suppliers who share our values and ethos

All food resources are precious, and we treat them as such. 100% of our food waste is either recycled, or donated to community projects

We have a close working partnership with The Felix Project, who deliver surplus food to charities and schools across London, so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society. Find out more here

Additionally, we work directly with local food banks in north London, to ensure as much as possible of our “finished” surplus goes to those in our community who need it most

Running a bakery inevitably means we rely heavily on our utility providers. 100% of our electricity is from renewable sources; we are working to have the same in place for our gas supply

Finally, Celtic Bakers is proud to partner the Breadwinners charity, providing support to refugees through the provision of training and jobs. Please click here to find out more about Breadwinners and to see how you can support their valuable work
